Potentials of Biomass Waste Resources with Respect to their Calorific Value, Proximate and Ultimate Analysis for Energy Utilization

Abstract The increase in the prices and demand for cooking fuel has necessitated deployment of an alternative (biomass wastes), which is efficient relatively inexpensive. Biomass wastes are abundant underutilized energy purposes Nigeria. conversion these into briquettes can help to mitigate over-dependency wood deforestation. In this study, biomass such as rice husks (RH), banana peels (BP), coconut husk (CH), groundnut shell (GS) saw dust (SD) were collected various dumpsites Abakaliki, Ebonyi State sun dried a week ease grinding. Briquettes produced mechanically from all samples, including mixture samples (MIX) using same ratio. Waste paper was used binder. Characterization analyses (i.e. calorific value, proximate ultimate analyses) conducted ASTM standards. results revealed that MIX briquette average value 26346kJ/kg, 12.35% moisture, 8.99% ash, 0.05% sulphur 34.7% carbon.
